Prescription drug ads are common in television broadcasting while the public comes to know products by shortened commercial names they can identify with.

On the other side of the prescription drug debate nutritionists and naturalists believe that food, vitamins, minerals and exercise could alleviate a significant amount of the medical issues commonly dealt with by prescription drugs.

The increased use of prescription drugs has also meant an increased amount of consumer abuses within healthcare insurance. This may be precipitated by low co-pays many individuals have with their insurance policy and it may be more convenient for health care professionals to prescribe medicine if they know it will not be an undo financial burden on the patient.
