Gun Control

Gun Control One mention of the term 'Gun Control' and you find the opinions are many and divided.

Gun control became a legislative bone of contention following a debilitating injury suffered by James Brady in an assassination attempt against former President Ronald Reagan. Brady continues to promote the virtues of strict gun control.

Those opposed to federal legislation regarding gun control cite the Second Amendment that indicates Americans have the right to bear arms.

Gun control lobbyists continue to point to significant crime rates that involve guns as a prime motivation to restrict gun ownership.

The primary argument against the proposal is that many crimes involving individuals who used guns in the commission of a felony had not acquired the gun through legal means. In essence this leaves some to wonder if the only impact on gun control legislation would be to prevent law-abiding citizens from the ability to protect themselves.
